As soon as the Cubs do something worth blogging about I will blog. Maybe we can take 2 out of 3 from the Cards this week, although I highly doubt it! Its another long season on the north side of Chicago! Big Z has looked better this year than the last few, but Dempster has just gone into the tank! A-Ram has forgotten how to hit homeruns and drive people in! Starlin Castro is our only stolen base threat! For a team that has the money and the loyal fans you would think you could build a half way decent team! Freakin WGN only shows about one damn game a week, which with the way the Cubs play is probably all I can stomach!

  1. Luckily for you, since you are such a young cubs fan, you haven't built up the immunity of watching a putrid team perform night in and night out! The cubs fans I live around are used to seeing a failing product and learn to turn their attention to other aspects of their lives. I see why you have been off the blog awhile bud. Buckle up and enjoy the ride my friend! The way the cardinals have been playing lately, it could be an ugly showing for the north siders.

  2. I am used to it, but I have hope with each new year. Its why I have some troubles with my loyalties with the Cubs, because (im being very frank and honest here) deep down I dont think the front office is trying to win or cares if the Cubs win. They seem to be ok with the Cubs being the "lovable losers" and I am not ok with that label. Lets start spending some money and being smart with our money, not to mention lets start developing some talent like Starlin Castro! There is a list a mile long of good players the Cubs have given away and players that we have paid a ton of money to that didnt do a damn thing for us, Milton Bradley is one name that comes to mind, Carlos Silva would be another, the list could go on and on. Meanwhile other front offices like the Ray, Marlins, Rockies, etc have managed to build some good teams with some good talent and not spend even close to the money the Cubs do. I can handle losing but damn at least show me that you are doing everything possible to try and win, thats all I ask

  3. I think with the Cubs new ownership you may start to see some changes. They are spending money in the right places. I think for the time being Pena and Garza were both good signs. Young talent that can grow together is key. They have a great bullpen in place, they just need some more runs to get to the back end. Hang in there bud, don't let baseball heaven woo you into betraying your north side tendencies and stick with the Flubs. They will have their time and when they do it will be a party like Chicago has never seen.

  4. After 100 years I would hope we would have our time soon. I am a little leary on the signing of Pena and Garza, The Rays were quick to let them go, almost like they knew something and so far Garza has been ok, but Pena is barely batting over .200 again this year. Soriano has got to go, he strikes out way too much and his fielding is pathetic, occasionally he will hit some HR but between the Ks and the Errors its just not enough. Fukudome hasnt quite worked out like they thought it would, he is OK but still not the caliber of player that we need. I dont want to be a fair weather fan, considering I have been loyal to the Cubs for about 27years now I would say I am not fair weather but its just hard to keep rooting for a team when it appears that they want to suck. Thier new owners "the Rickets family" are from Omaha and personally I dont really like them all that much either, but we will see, I dont have to like them if what they want to do is win.
