Almost Famous

The movie of the month, Almost Famous, is a story roughly based on some of Cameron Crowe's experiences as a young writer.  It shows him touring with bands while he contributes to Rolling Stone for the first time.  Crowe of course would go on to be one of the magazine's most famous contributing editors.

The movie has several well known actors and actresses including Billy Crudup, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kate Hudson, Jason Lee, Zooey Deschanel, Jimmy Fallon and Anna Paquin.

Easily one of my favorite movies since it gives you some accurate perspective into the lives of rock and rollers during a time when rock and roll was being proclaimed dead.  Very well written film that allows its stars to shine.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

  1. It has been a while since I've seen this movie. I had fun watching it and loved all of the 1-liners throughout.

  2. Anita Miller: FECK YOU!
    Elaine Miller: HEY!
Anita Miller: This is a house of lies!
Elaine Miller: Well there it is, your sister used the "F" word.
Young William: I think she said "feck."
    Elaine Miller: What's the difference?
    Young William: The letter "u."

Thanks Joe for your selection! Almost Famous is a fantastic film! Such a great story, such interesting characters portrayed by excellent actors, fantastic directing and excellent music! It is a lot of fun to follow William as he goes on this true adventure when he goes on the road with the band Sweetwater! Kate Hudson is absolutely wonderful and it makes you think of the actress she can be when she really wants to! Frances McDormand (one of my favorites) also really shines as the quirky, over controlling, yet loveable mother. Its just simply a fun, enjoyable film that you cant take too seriously but just sit back and have a few laughs!

Rock stars have kidnapped my son!
